Overview Refrigerants

Refrigeration has steadily become a part of everyday life; our food is chilled, frozen, stored, transported and displayed in refrigerated units using refrigerant gas. Refrigeration is a key component of many industrial processes such as pharmaceutical, chemical, and natural gas production. Even our cars, offices, shops and public buildings are kept cool by air-conditioning.

BOC’s refrigerant business has grown with this change, to become the largest supplier of packaged refrigerants with over thirty years' experience, serving over 300,000 customers in the UK & Ireland.

A range of specialist services are available from BOC including gas & oil analysis, high speed recovery, system rectification and waste management. In addition BOC provides technical support and advice relating to legislation and HCFC alternatives and a suite of training courses applicable to the industry.

		In 2001 BOC signed a long-term agreement with HRP, the leading UK wholesaler of refrigerant gases and equipment. Both companies complement each other very well and this partnership has widened BOC's distribution reach beyond BOC’s own retail outlets into the refrigerant wholesale market via HRP's 15 trade services centres.
		In 2003 BOC formed a partnership with Hudson Technologies, a leading US refrigeration technology company. Hudson specialises in on-site decontamination services; their aim is to solve problems related to refrigerants and their effect on chiller and refrigeration system performance.  This technology is designed to help improve systems leading to plant efficiency gains and energy savings. This technology is now exclusively available from BOC as one of its on-site service offers.
