Hydrocarbons are becoming more popular in small and some large systems as a refrigerant; being able to handle this flammable product safely and be aware of the associated risks is vital.BOC requires engineers to be trained in the safe handling of hydrocarbons before they can purchase these products. | City and Guilds 2078-01 in Refrigerant Handling |
From April 2007, European legislation required all refrigeration engineers to be qualified to a minimum industry standard when handling any fluorocarbon refrigerant. Completing a City & Guilds 2078 qualification ensures that refrigeration engineers meet the minimum industry standard. This is an assessment of competence, and is therefore only suitable for engineers with some industry experience. The course will be conducted in small groups with a maximum of 6 delegates to ensure a quality ratio of trainer to delegates is achieved. |
Full day this consists of a theory and practical session in the morning, followed by an afternoon competency test.

| Ammonia Safety Training Workshop |
Workshop is designed for personnel who are involved in the handling, storage and use of ammonia. It highlights the importance of safe working practices and makes participants fully aware of the consequences of adopting poor procedures. It will develop an awareness of the hazards associated with the use of ammonia and how to approach risk assessment in real life situations. This is an awareness course and is not the City & Guilds 2078-2 qualification in ammonia handling, which BOC do not currently provide.
